A Fuel efficiency drive

Fuel costs have risen and consumer finances have taken a big hit.

Tuning techniques are not just for developing extra power.
The other side of the tuning "coin" is an important improvement in fuel consumption.
This has always been the case, it's just it's never been such a priority issue.

Lean burn technology for low octane fuels and alternatives like LPG have never been so relevant as during "lean times".
This is achieved with higher CR, optimised head and valve design, and a very special spark plug developed from rocket engine technology.
This is very useful for larger engines and older designs such as the Rover V8.
Before going on to discuss the plugs used here is an example of an advanced package;-

Below can be seen our forged piston design for the Jaguar AJ6 engine which is already known for excellent fuel efficiency.
The CR is raised to 10.5:1, and a slight piston size increase (1mm) also increases squish.

We then install an optimised inlet and exhaust valve pair which raises power by 40bhp and flattens the torque curve so that it produces a 10% higher figure.

Hi tech tuning article

You can read the article about it above

When this is combined with an increase in burning efficiency and the ability to run at 15:1 Fuel-Air or lower successfully, the resultant fuel economy is of the order of 25%

Some small optimisations in ignition timing are ideal, which is a departure from the manufacturers settings.

The whole package successfully runs lower grade 95 octane fuel with an increase in power, NOT a decrease with a rise in fuel consumption as happened previously.
Pinking becomes a thing of the past, and the torque level using 95octane fuel is superior to that previously found on premium 98/99 Octane fuel.
