An example of top Quality work in Lincoln

This is an example of what we saw from a fine "UK Triumph Specialist".

There is no axe to grind.
  • The power output of this engine was CLAIMED 180bhp

Some members of the TR register BEGGED the owner not to bring the car to us for work, because they claimed it would make less power after!
In the event that would be hard,(to make less power) & the company claiming 180bhp was clearly lying.

THANK YOU Mr P. you will not be forgotten!

The engine had done no more than 3000 miles from a complete rebuild at RACETORATIONS, Lincoln.

We are led to believe the head was done by N Collingwood. For some mysterious reason the inlet ports had been ovalised downwards.
(This would explain the awful mismatches).

The photo shown is after cleaning up 0.010" off the face, inc the checking the cc/height figures.
We leave you to judge from the photos & the data as to whether the claims add up.

Notice the severe mismatches in the head to inlet & exhaust ports.

  • The head had had the largest possible valves installed in it, but they did not work, & were about TWICE the weight of ordinary valves.
  • The valve springs were about TWICE as stiff as compatible with a rev limit of 5500rpm.
(We believe this played no small part in the cam wearing out so fast, but there, who cares if the thing is only 45 HRC Rockwell eh?)

  • The engine produced only as much power as a STD engine, but had no torque below 3000rpm.
  • The engine had a STD metering unit calibration figure, but the progression had been fooled about with by an amateur.
  • The head was found to be warped 0.006" out of true and the (cheap modern PAYEN) head gasket had failed.
  • The camshaft was completely worn out and the cam followers were already dead.
  • The cam had been ground on a second hand late cam which was SOFT

This example should serve as a warning to all those interested in doing major restoration work on a Triumph in the UK.
WE NO LONGER RECCOMEND ANYONE IN THE UK. We closed all business activity in the UK, despite having developed unique parts, and DEFACTO standards for the TR5 and TR6 engines.
We could not compete which such companies or such vested interests. It became abundantly clear the TR register were there to DEFEND the interests of Racetorations.

No criticism is permitted of this company in public, but we had SHED LOADS of criticism & slander from TR register members behind our backs, whom we had never even met, or done work for.
The only logical reasons why such companies can exist?

    They:-
COULD NOT possibly survive working on any other quality car (such as a Jaguar)
where rigour and quality control are essential, or suffer constant warranty failures.

    WHY?

    Because they are SO MEDIOCRE.

They have to gravitate to Triumph owners and their clubs to get business.
In the real world, it is essential to deliver a reliable car on time, which may have to be driven across Europe.
In practice this car couldn't even be driven 100 miles without fear of breakdown or overheating
as the radiator fitted to this new engine was also defective.
Here now is the same engine in 2012, before & after modifying properly, with a proper hand made bespoke exhaust,
proper modified metering unit, a PROPER head, distributor, & properly designed camshaft.

Export only sales:- Germany, France, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Spain, Switzerland, Italy etc.

We make Exchange and Competition engines for Lotus, Cosworth, Jaguar, Triumph,

We actually EXPECT people to PAY for their work when it is done, not claim they don't have the money.
